Archery
Archery is a part of most of our events. All members are able to learn to shoot if they choose, as it was practised by men and women during the middle ages. We use both the longbow (or variations on it, such as the self bow), and the crossbow. When not billed as a display in its own right, target shooting and archery practise is often performed as an 'extra' when it is safe to do so, (because somebody fancies some shooting, or training).
Archery is also used as part of battle re-enactments, and arena 'skills' displays, once an archer is passed as 'field-safe' by our Archery Captain. This involves shooting at actual people, as in the video below.
